Course Description

Course Aims to:
Develop in students a deeper understanding of healthy lifestyles.
Develop the skills related to sport and Physical activity
Foster among students an understanding of Hauora;
Develop students understanding of skill learning and skill analysis
Develop student’s knowledge of biophysical principles and their uses.
Provide an environment where learning is fun
Develop in students the ability to promote interpersonal skill in all areas of physical education
Create a learning environment that prepares students for further life long learning in Physical Education
Promote Fair play
Further students understanding of influences of the environment that they grow up in

'Topics'
Theme 1: Relevance - Self Others Society
Topic 1- Polyfest - Examine the significance for self, others and society of a sporting event, a physical activity, or a festival

Topic 2-Turbo Touch. Demonstrate skills to a national prescribed level

Theme 2: Outdoor Education
Topic 1: Demonstrate and analyse group processors in outdoor activities
Topic 2: Implement and analyse risk management strategies.


Theme 3: Train to gain
Topic 1: Design, implement and evaluate a training programme.
Topic 2: Social Responsibility – demonstrate effective social responsibility throughout the year.
