Course Description

Recommended Prior Learning

Life and Faith consist of writing essays so it is recommended that students have taken Life and Faith at Year 12 or subjects such as Year 12 English, History or Media studies .


Life and Faith follows the National Religious Education Curriculum and is a full academic course. This course is assessed through Internal Achievements Standards.

Year 13 Life and Faith is an approved subject for University Entrance and students can attain Reading Literacy credits from the Achievement Standards provided.

Students will develop an understanding of the Methodist Church of Aotearoa New Zealand, analysing a book of the Bible; The Book of Exodus through historical criticism by it's author Moses and secular worldviews ( Atheism) in which belief in anything is always proportioned to the evidence available. Through this subject, students are provided with an opportunity to experience new ideas, principles, beliefs,  and different issues in society which students have not witnessed or experienced prior.
