11MATH
Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mrs V. Tupou.

Recommended Prior Learning

Students must have the 10 numeracy credits and need to be performing at Stanine 6 or higher in all topics covered in the 10MAT course due to the content in this course being statistics,  algebra,  measurement and trigonometry.

This course is designed to develop general mathematical skills for everyday living. Students intending to progress to NCEA Level 2 Mathematics Advance or Level 2 Mathematics Core should take the Year 11 Mathematics (11MAT).

The course offers a total of 10 internally assessed and 10 externally assessed achievement standard credits.

The pathway from year 11 Mathematics and Statistics leads to Level 2 Mathematics.

12MAT Advance:  NCEA Level 2 Mathematics

12MAT Core:  NCEA Level 2 Mathematics & Statistics

Course Overview

Term 1
1.2 - AS91945 Use mathematical method to explore problems that relate to life in Aotearoa New Zealand or the Pacific Region (INTERNAL ASSESSMENT 5 credits)
This theme integrates learning from algebra and number. Students will have opportunities to:
a) Fluently and flexibly solve problems.
b) Form, use, rearrange, and solve equations, formulae, and inequations
c) Explore situations using a variety of representations such as patterns, equations, tables, and graphs, as well as data displays and numerical statistics
d) Explore, describe, and generalise properties of number, measurement, space, algebra, and probability
e) Explore and use relative change in two variables represented using equations, tables, and graphs, within linear and quadratic relationships.

1.4 - AS91947 Demonstrate mathematical reasoning (EXTERNAL ASSESSMENT 5 credits)
- cover the algebra part

Term 2
